About this site

I first became interested in resilience as a teenager, when my father and little sister died unexpectedly
Seeking answers, I spent years exploring dozens of processes while working as a baker in Maine, an advertising copywriter in Vermont, and a screenwriter for the Muppets in LA.
In 2000, I met self-help pioneer Byron Katie and loved her Work. I spent three magical years helping Katie reach more people.

My friends didn’t quite get Katie’s approach, and that got me thinking about other approaches I had explored (CBT, REBT, Stoicism) and how there are many ways to help people re-think challenges.
In 2004, I created a new approach to resilience, and have been teaching it ever since at Wharton Executive Education and to thousands of leaders at dozens of the world’s best companies.
The Resilience Academy makes the same tools available online. I hope you find it helpful.
Warmly,
